Pastor Larry Edmond
Senior Pastor
Reverend Larry E. Edmond is a retired servant leader appointed supply pastor in charge of the Rock of Ages CME Church.
He is married to Sonia Scott-Edmond and blessed parent of four children, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pastor Edmond was born and reared in Lexington County, SC.-- the seventh of nine children born to the late Clabie D. and Connie Staley Edmond. He is a 1969 graduate of Twin City High School, Batesburg, SC.
While serving a 3-year tour in the U.S. Army, Rev. Edmond completed the U.S. Army Military Academy Preparatory School at Fort Belvoir in Alexandria, VA., and went on to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY where he studied civil engineering. He also completed 7 years of military service in the U.S. Navy where he served as a surface warfare officer, navigator and ROTC instructor.
Rev. Edmond earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and a Master of Fine Arts in Mass Communication from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Presently, he works at Fort Gordon as editor-in-chief of the U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence professional Journal, “The Army Communicator.”
Rev. Edmond is a lifelong member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; baptized at an early age at Wesley Chapel CME Church in Batesburg, SC.
He completed the Bishops Required Course of Study and the 7th Episcopal District Practical theology Practicum. In 2002, he was licensed in the Carolinas Conference of the 7th Episcopal District as a minister of the Gospel in the CME Church. In 2005, he was ordained Deacon, and elected an Elder in 2006. In 2004 he served Trinity CME Church in Augusta, as youth minister. In 2008, he became fully connected in the Carolina Conference and transferred to the 6th Episcopal District to continue serving at Trinity CME Church and as a supply preacher for the Augusta-Sparta District. Shortly thereafter he received appointment to serves as pastor of the Woodlawn CME Church in Harlem. He was appointed pastor of Raise Bridge in 2011 and St Paul in 2012. He served as pastor of Vanderhorst CME Church in Thomson from 2013 until retirement in 2018.
Pastor Edmond is an avid golfer who also enjoys, singing, playing piano and studying God’s Word.
